NY State Bans Tris in Childcare Products

On August 1, 2011 the Governor of New York State signed into law the Children and Babies Act, thus making New York the first state to ban the flame retardant TRIS in childcare products. Childcare products are defined as products for children under three years of ages, including such items as: baby products, toys, car seats, nursing pillows, crib mattresses, and strollers. The act goes into effect December 1, 2013. Used products are excluded from the ban.

EPA New Chemical Reporting Rules

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is increasing the type and amount of information it collects on commercial chemicals from chemical manufacturers. The new the chemical data reporting Rule (CDR), requires more frequent reporting of information on chemicals and also requires that companies submit information electronically to EPA, rather than on paper.
